January 2022 Breckenridge-Frisco Community Insider

Happy New Year! And Welcome to the January 2022 Breckenridge-Frisco Community Insider. I hope that all of you were able to enjoy the winter break and the first month of the snowy season here in Breckenridge and Frisco. As I reflect on the past twelve months I am grateful for many things. For amazing clients and a job that I am passionate about. For the support of family and the camaraderie of friends. And for the opportunity to continue to grow my business and serve in a community that I love.

There are several events that are planned for the month of January that offer a great opportunity to get out in the Breckenridge and Frisco area and enjoy what makes this place so wonderful to call home. Here are a few that I thought you would find interesting; and if you know of any others don’t hesitate to shoot me a quick email. I’m always interested in new events in the area!

International Snow Sculpture Championships in Breckenridge January 24 – February 2, 2022

For more than twenty years running the Riverwalk Center in downtown has been a natural place for snow sculptures to show off their best creations. And every year in January, Breckenridge hosts the International Snow Sculpture Championships for the best of the best!

The process begins well before any sculpting actually takes place. The week before “Sculpting Week” (January 24-28) movers bring in snow blocks weighing approximately 20 tons each to be carved into art. But before they are transformed the snow blocks need time to settle under their own weight.

I suggest planning a trip downtown during the evening after the 26th. The sculptures are especially magical with the LED light displays at night and you’ll have the opportunity to cast your vote for a favorite starting on January 26th. Voting closes on the 29th at noon.

The Breckenridge Vipers Are Back!

Semi-pro hockey is back in Breckenridge! The Vipers are hosting two games this month, the first of which is a rare Sunday night game against a historic hockey team, FDNY, on the 9th. The will also go up against Vail later this month, on Saturday the 29th.

Hockey is a fun and affordable way to spend an evening cheering on one of our local teams. And a fun way for the kids to learn about this fast-paced sport. Tickets for home games are only $15 per seat and they start at 5:45 pm. You can pick up your tickets online by following this link. Go Breck!

Big Beers Belgians And Barleywines Festival 2022 – Canceled

Unfortunately, the Big Beers festival for beer aficionados and home brewers will not be moving forward as planned due to the latest surge in Covid cases. While it’s unfortunate that we are not able to gather at Beaver Run again this year with some of the best local vendors available, there are still ways that you can celebrate with like-minded people virtually. Check out the festival website (by clicking here) for more information on the creative way organizers are trying to keep the festival alive.
