Welcome to the November Breckenridge-Frisco Community Insider! Winter in Breckenridge-Frisco is a special time of year. Being the perfect mountain town that it is, Breckenridge boasts 5 mountain peaks, nearly 3,000 skiable acres of land, 187 trails, four terrain parks, and the tallest chairlift in North America. Did I mention it’s the perfect mountain town?
Opening Day on The Mountain
The Breckenridge Ski Resort is opening for the 60th anniversary season on November 12th and I know many in the area are excited to get back on the slopes. This resort is considered one of the best in the state and has runs for riders of all abilities.
You can purchase your season pass or individual tickets through their website. They plan to stay open through Memorial Day at the end of May (weather permitting) so there’s plenty of time to enjoy a weekend on the mountain.
Breckenridge Nordic Center Snowcat Tours
Maybe skiing isn’t exactly your cup of tea. That’s okay, there are still more activities than time to do them. If you still want to get out and take in some beautiful mountain scenery you might consider taking a Scenic Snowcat Tour offered by the Breckenridge Nordic Center. This guided tour is taken from the comfort of a heated snowcat and winds through forested trails to a historic cabin. There you’ll fill up on smores and cocoa while learning about the area’s historic mining families and the lives they lived when this area was much more rugged.
Breckenridge Distillery After Hours Tours
Do you prefer bourbon to cocoa? After a cold day on the mountain may be an after-hours distillery tour is just the thing to warm you up. Breckenridge Distillery is offering these after-hours tours by reservation only and can accommodate groups of up to ten people. Not only will you get to taste some of their products that have not been released yet but you will also learn more about the historical aspects of this famous drink and go in-depth on the techniques that they use to produce their quality product.
If you haven’t had a chance to stop by this award-winning distillery I suggest you take the time to check it out. They were awarded Whisky Magazine’s 2021 Visitor Attraction of the Year, are 4x winners of the Colorado Whiskey Distillery of the Year, and were awarded in the New York Int’l Spirits Competition as well. You can view the different tour options (there’s more than just the after-hours tour!) and purchase tickets through their website. Here’s the link!
Breckenridge Dog Sledding Tour
Have you ever had the opportunity to go dog sledding? I think most people initially think “Alaska” when they think about dog sledding; but Breckenridge offers some of the best dog sledding in the state of Colorado.
Not only is this a great way to get out in the backcountry and enjoy the scenery but you also get the opportunity to experience different aspects of the sport. Throughout the six-mile relay (yep, it’s a race!) riders will switch off between mushing the dogs, riding in the dog sled, and riding on a small passenger sleigh in front of the husky team with your guide. This is an unforgettable experience that is a must for those with adventurous spirits! And, it’s family-friendly. Registrations opened up yesterday (November 1st) and you can book them online here.
